  • Summer on the Slopes

Mountain slopes aren't just for skiing perfect groomers in the winter. It seems crazy but the slopes you fly down on skis seem so much steeper when bare. Summer is a great time for enjoying some laid-back fun at your favorite resorts. Here are a couple of fun events I'd love to attend.

Music festivals are easy-access and fun for all. Many resorts host them, including Brundage near McCall. It's called the Idaho Down Music Festival, and it's this coming weekend.

Canyons in Park City has a new music series this summer. It's called Friday Night Beats and BBQ and best of all, the music is free. This is definitely on my summer to do list.

If you are looking for something a little more challenging, there are a ton of options from alpines slides to zip lines. (A-Z, see what I did there?) I've got my eye on trying out the Hiawatha biking trail near Lookout Pass. This trail has been built along an old stretch of scenic railroad and includes the tunnels and bridges.

For a little friendly competition, Snowbird is hosting a series of mountain bike races, the Full Suspension MTB series. Actually, Snowbird plays host to a bunch of cool competitions all summer long.

Finally, this one is not strictly ski-slope related, but I want to include fishing and one of my favorite blogs, the Brighton Anglers. They have a number of great posts from fishing spots throughout the area. I admit that I've never fly-fished (at least successfully), but everytime I look at the site, I get the urge to try. They make it look so easy!

This is by no means meant to be a comprehensive list. Just a few of many things that caught my eye as cool or different around our area. Check out any resort's summer offerings and get out there! Winter will be here before we know it.
